Job Description:
Client is seeking a senior SQL Server Database Administrator to complete security, upgrades and patching, change management, SQL Server IT infrastructure, back up and recovery, use of hardware and software monitoring tools, error trapping, logging job activity and push alerts.
Tasks and Deliverables:
Apply senior SQL Server Database Administration experience and skill to accomplish, but not limited to, the below:
Install server software
Configure database servers
Monitor and maintain system health and security
Design backup processes for server and associated data
Ensure security for SQL Server Databases
Create accounts for all users and assign security levels
Advise on and implement disaster recovery protocols
Provide end-to-end technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for SQL Server and ETL-related issues
Schedule and perform regular SQL server maintenance, patching, and upgrades
Evaluate data analysis models and procedures
SQL Server Performance Tuning
Plan for future SQL server capacity needs
Provide technical leadership to other Client database team members
Work independently with minimal guidance while also participating on project teams
Prepare and participate in release readiness for software development deployments to the DEV, TEST and PROD environments
Recommend and participate in Continuous Improvement efforts for the current database administration practices
Provide clear, concise, and honest communication
Provide other database administration needs, when needed
Provide knowledge transfer
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
Four (4) years of T-SQL programming experience
Three (3) years of Extract Transform Load (ETL) support/troubleshooting/programming experience
Two (2) separate engagements, with different companies, involving analysis of current database administration practices
Desired Skills:
Experience in Criminal Justice
Experience with Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience in Data and Application migration
Experience with database design
Experience with routine database maintenance, disaster recovery, and database backup/failover procedures
Experience with installation and configuration of SSRS, including security
Knowledge of database structure and theory
Knowledge of distributed computing architectures, e.g. client–server model
Knowledge of storage technologies and networking
SQL certification
Experience providing recommendations for database improvements
