JOB TITLE: Assistant Executive Housekeeper DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY:

Either directly or through assigned managers, manage the on-site hospital housekeeping functions in an alternate capacity to the Executive Housekeeper to assure total work performance conforms to corporate and contractual requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following list of functions is descriptive of the work to be performed but it should not be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, functions and tasks that the job may require.

Assigns workers their duties, manages daily schedules and inspects work for conformance to the prescribed contract.

Provides for the safety of assigned staff by ensuring that safe procedures are followed in all assignments and safety training occurs as prescribed by the contract. Reports all on-the-job injuries immediately through use of the appropriate worker’s compensation procedures.

Develops and maintains an effective customer relationship through assigned contacts. Investigates and resolves complaints raised by the client utilizing corporate procedures, including reporting of issues with major client considerations to his or her manager on a timely basis.

Prepares and submits required reports to the corporate office, including reports related to payroll, on an accurate and timely basis.

Oversees and holds accountability for the proper maintenance and security of assigned equipment. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, floor buffer, carpet vacuum and cleaner(s), auto-floor scrubber (if applicable), wet vacuum and other related custodial equipment.

Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies. Orders and issues supplies and equipment to workers.

Provides supervision to assigned staff, including activities such as hiring, counseling, guiding, training and termination, as may be required. This supervision is subject to the procedures established by the company and is subject to the terms and conditions of any collective bargaining agreement in place at the site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum:

Three years of experience in managing hospital housekeeping/custodial maintenance in a health care facility, preferably at a military hospital and/or in a facility of at least 500,000 square feet in size in the previous five years. Previous duties shall have included training, management, quality control, supervision of housekeeping employees, and interface with hospital operations personnel.

High School graduate or GED equivalent.

Familiarity with the use of a personal computer, with proficiency in the use of spreadsheet software applications preferable.

The Executive Housekeeper must be able to write, read and speak fluent English.

Ability to interpret, analyze and report the work of assigned staff, including the ability to determine appropriate staffing requirements.

Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow directions, ability to interact well with co-workers; ability to understand work rules and procedures; ability to accept constructive criticism.

IEHA certification or certification of an agency that the training provided has comparable course content as the IEHA course. We will assist you in obtaining this certification.

This job requires heavy work. The job requires routinely lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force. The job involves standing more than four hours per day; walking briskly, stooping, bending, lifting, etc. are regularly required. The worker is subject to various environmental conditions with the work performed both inside and outside and in both hot and cold temperatures.
