Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.Department SummaryAs a member of the Customer Strategy team, this position leads and manages the deployment of LEAN thinking and support throughout the Retail business, specifically within the Customer Experience organization. The individual in this role will be a critical member in helping the Customer Experience team achieve success through the Retail Roadmap by supporting the organization in the CE Way principles – visual management, problem solving, operating reviews, standard work, and waste elimination. The successful candidate for this position will have primary responsibility for delivering operational Strategic expertise to the organization. This will require a blending of regulatory knowledge, strong business acumen, keen financial skills, influential competency, quantitative analytical abilities to optimize the planning and performance of the teams.This individual will be working primarily with the VP of Customer Experience and her direct reports and as such, will be expected to have sufficient executive communication and facilitation skills to ensure they are successful in their interactions with the leadership team.Job Description / Responsibilities

Accountable for strategic initiatives, focused on achieving performance metrics, process efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Understanding of quality and deployment of CE Way throughout the CX organization, including EICP metric reporting, L2 scorecard development/deployment, etc.

Manage lean projects to drive business improvements & use problem solving / continuous improvement tools to identify defects and improve processes.

Manage the development & execution of strategic initiatives for the Customer Organization; including the strategy update process, business plan deployment, development of organizational scorecards and creation of the business units’ operating plans.

Deliver knowledge and research on market trends, benchmarking and process improvement techniques.

Analyze the strategic, operating and financial impacts of business proposals and/or external regulatory legislative proposals.

Manage the development of executive level PowerPoint presentations as an effective communication vehicle.

Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.

Less than a Bachelor’s Degree may be considered if accompanied by extensive company or industry experience.

3 or more years of exempt experience

The following skills / experience may set you apart from others:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Finance, Accounting, IT or Engineering

Masters or other advanced degree, in a Communications or Business area

Experience creating executive level PowerPoint and other communications

Business Analytics and Optimization

Lean/Six Sigma certification

Energy industry background that includes a working knowledge of effectively mapping technology to business challenges

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; strategic and creative while demonstrating strong analytical and facilitation skills

Essential Functions

Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the Company.

Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices.

Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations.

Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on time and under budget.

Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents.

Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects.

Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.

Assists in client contact and communication.

Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.

Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders.

Attend internal and external meetings.

Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner.

Regular attendance is expected.

Individuals should exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company’s compliance standards.

Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.

This position may require the ability to travel between field locations.

This position may include nights and weekend/holiday timeframes.

This role will be based out of our downtown Jackson-OEP building.
