Stanley's Global Operations team is currently seeking candidates for Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Technology.

The Lean-Led, Tech-Enabled, Data-Driven Operations Technology organization is responsible for developing and implementing the technology roadmap to transform our manufacturing operations and meet business unit objectives. Co-located at our manufacturing locations in order to develop a deep understanding of local manufacturing processes, these roles spearhead projects at the plant level, introducing and implementing technologies such as IIoT, Advanced Analytics, automation, robotics, and many other innovative Advanced Manufacturing technologies. This team is at the forefront of understanding and implementing state of the art manufacturing technologies into the manufacturing world of Stanley Black & Decker.

Successful candidates will be innovative thinkers who can both understand new technology in manufacturing and be able to look at true capability and identify the right place to implement it, will be great communicators that can work across diverse teams inside and outside the business, and will possess the ability to think outside of the box and embrace change.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own delivery of overall Operations Technology roadmap for manufacturing plants within Outdoor Product Group business units, including financial and technology goals.
  • Partner with Plant Managers, local plant team members, Productivity leaders, Lean leaders, IT and others to support and ensure alignment with current and future business unit goals
  • Align with, support, and enhance the Lean-led journey of each individual plant
  • Lead research, development and deployment of digital manufacturing technology and agile automation production system solutions into global manufacturing facilities.
  • Utilize Operations Technology elements to improve processes and productivity. Develop proof of concepts and scale them up to production levels locally and cross plant
  • Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities, recommend solutions to reduce gaps, drive required process changes to ensure value capture
  • Support hyper care, change management, training and adoption of new technology on-site
  • Develop and prepare formal cost justifications for purchase of capital equipment
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment and purchase of equipment.
  • Conduct site surveys of plants, develop deep understanding of plant manufacturing processes and machine capability to capture data that will be used to design the systems.
  • Create system requirements for each plant while standardizing those already created
  • Collaborate with multiple functions including IT and Operations on project requirements and deliverables to meet launch deadlines
  • Drive maturity of the overall plant knowledge of technology, adoption of new technologies, and ensure factories in the regions have the best access to the latest technological thinking and possible solutions.
  • Partner with the COE team to ensure standardization and best practices are followed throughout the businesses
  • Leads Kaizen events and teams to solve problems and provide for productivity
  • Create standardization with documentation and playbooks for future launches
  • Sustain technology by analyzing and creating reports to continuously drive new insights and value in the plants

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering plus 3 years of experience OR Master's Degree and 1 year of experience
  • Experience working with multiple functions and disciplines in a matrix organization to build consensus and drive decision making. (Operations, Sourcing, finance, IT, etc.)
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge
  • ERP/MES and other manufacturing systems knowledge/experience
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques and the latest technology advances
  • Ability to interact with Automation and Robotic systems to review product design and specifications
  • Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic, 3D/2D CAD (Solidworks / AutoCAD)
  • Ability to read Blueprints, Electrical/Hydraulic Schematics
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Preparing capital equipment justifications and requests
  • Proficiency utilizing operations/computer simulation
  • Project management skills to create, manage and deliver projects and budgets
  • Decisive and confident, open and candid with the ability to energize others
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability and personal commitment
