BDS Phantom Works is seeking an Associate Mechanical System Design and Analysis Engineers for advanced aircraft development programs located in Berkeley, MO and Hazelwood, MO. Skills include: Environmental Control System Design and Installation (ECS), Thermal Analysis, Hydraulic System Design and Installation, Fuel System Design and Installation, Mechanical Systems Design (Landing Gear, Mechanisms, and Secondary Power).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment.
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
  • Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.
  • Performs spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms/landing gear/ordinance systems.
  • Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.
  • Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Works under general supervision


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (ship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Astronautical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience do you have working with computer aided design such as CATIA, Solidworks, or Siemens NX.
  • Experience with Product Data Management tools/systems such as TeamCenter and ENOVIA.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD), utilizing model-based definition, in Unigraphics
  • Experience with thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience working with aircraft fluid systems design and components including pumps, valves, heat exchangers and controls.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a multi-discipline team environment.
  • Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation as necessary.


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
