The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a first-line Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the 777X Program located in Berkeley, MO under the Bombers and Fighters Division.

This opportunity will be leading a team on the 777X program comprised of Design Engineers and Structural Analysts responsible for the definition, fabrication and assembly of the following Wing and Empennage components - Fairings, Fixed Leading Edges, Folding Wing Tip, and Rudder/Elevator. This includes the development of the new 777-8F Freighter model. This position will report to the 777X St Louis Chief Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Managing employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering for the 777 Wing and Empennage.
  • Efficient management of the team through the delegation of authority and responsibility to team members and holding them accountable for performance in regards to product development, schedule, and quality.
  • Develops and executes integrated plans, policies and procedures and provides input on business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Acquires resources for activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Applies Engineering Best Practices to ensure delivery of first time quality for engineering data.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manage, develop, coach, mentor and motivate employees.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Qualifications):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 10 + years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • 5+ years of experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication and assembly processes and procedures.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team in a technical leadership or in a management role (informal or formal).
  • Ability to demonstrate a career interest in technical excellence, developing/deploying effective and efficient analysis tools and processes, excellent communications skills, and the ability to develop and present material on a variety of topics, both technical and administrative.



Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience working with commercial aircraft.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace/aeronautical, civil, or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • MS in an engineering disciple or an MBA.
