The District Manager is responsible for managing the overall success of assigned stores and their contribution to the Agency, as it related to financial, personnel and store performance.Increasing sales numbers in stores of responsibility
Maintaining appropriate ratios of expense, revenue and salaries in assigned stores
Generating revenue in accordance with budget, expenses and bottom-line contribution in assigned stores
Ensuring assigned stores maintain acceptable margins relating to salaries, trash, sales, shrinkage and revenue
Ensuring management follows and trains on appropriate key control, cash handling and loss prevention procedures
Setting example for store managers and personnel in demonstrated knowledge and administration of policies and procedures
Developing management staff to ensure succession
Leading and supporting store management in their efforts to build a cohesive team and manage personnel
Ensuring managers are aware of and follow legal guidelines relating to employment practices
Hiring, disciplining, developing, training, and terminating assigned general managers
Training general managers in effective processing and pricing techniques
Assisting general managers in developing and maintaining improved conditions within their stores
Obtaining and analyzing statistical information regarding store performance, making recommendations
Ensuring appropriate management staffing levels in a manager’s absence
Ensuring stores adhere to stock rotation, process improvement and inventory control procedures
Support, implement and follow all administrative tasks necessary to carryout duties as aligned above
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing processes and people
High school diploma or equivalent is required. College degree preferred.
Solid comfort level with utilizing all aspects of computers to complete the job, not limited to;
POS at cash register
Windows environment and internet use
On-line training and web-based meetings
Familiarity with safety requirements in a warehouse/retail environment
Recognize and avoid any conflict of interest with staff, product or customers
Effective, appropriate and professional communication and demeanor
Recognition of and adherence to a higher standard as a member of management
Ability to solve problems independently and effectively
Knowledge of efficient and effective management skills as it pertains to both processes and personnel
Ability to recognize potential problems within systems and recommend appropriate solutions
Ability to make sound hiring decisions, recognize potential and develop management staff appropriately
Professional, effective conflict resolution skills
Strong, prioritization, delegation and multi-tasking ability
Appropriate action, including termination, of non-performers with required documentation
Ability to hold staff accountable to expectations and standards
Comfort with handling cash and operation of a cash register
Understanding of the importance of the donor process and how it supports the mission
Valid license, acceptable driving record and valid insurance
Manufacturing experience or piece rate experience is beneficial
