POSITION OVERVIEW
Hi there! I'm a busy business owner seeking a long-term household assistant. My husband and I are both in the midst of hectic careers, and we could really use some support around the house. We're hoping to find someone who's interested in working with us on a part-time basis, long-term.
This is a $20/hr, 5-hour/week contract position to start, with the potential for increased hours in the future.
We're flexible on the recurring weekly time: whatever day of the week works best for you, works for us!
We're happy to pay by Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or check.
We're a household of 2, plus 2 very friendly indoor cats, and 1 friendly stray cat who hangs out on our porch. We are both fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will include housecleaning, getting groceries and running other misc. errands, laundry, and household tasks.
If you're okay with the following tasks, this will be a great long-term role for you:
Weekly
- [ ] Double-check to make sure the house is always stocked with the essentials, including:
- [ ] toilet paper
- [ ] paper towels
- [ ] litter pail refills: https://littergenie.com/litter-geniestandard-refill
- [ ] trash bags
- [ ] extra clean sponges
- [ ] shampoo
- [ ] conditioner
- [ ] soap
- [ ] toothpaste
- [ ] anything else I've forgotten!
- [ ] Grocery shopping (our favorite grocery store is The Merc Co+op in downtown KCK
- [ ] Simple food prep: chop ingredients that we'll later put into a dinner recipe, slice cucumbers/other veggies for easy snacks throughout the week, etc.
- [ ] Light house cleaning
- [ ] Wash & put away the laundry
- [ ] Load, run & empty the dishwasher
- [ ] Clean out any spoiled food from the fridge
- [ ] Prep the coffee maker & tea kettle
- [ ] Wipe down all counters/surfaces
- [ ] Wipe down all sinks
- [ ] Sweep
- [ ] Vacuum
- [ ] Make the bed
- [ ] Wipe down mirrors
- [ ] Clean the toilets
- [ ] Scoop the litter boxes (we have thoselitter pails (https://littergenie.com/litter-genie-pail)to make this super easy)
- [ ] If the litter bags inside the litter pails are full, take them out to the garage trash can
- [ ] Take house trash & recycling out to the cans in the garage
- [ ] Sort mail & deliveries
- [ ] Water the plants
- [ ] Other misc. errands: returns, Goodwill, etc
Monthly
- [ ] Light house cleaning
- [ ] Dust
- [ ] Clean the shower and tub, if needed
- [ ] Get the car washed & vacuumed
Ad hoc, as the need arises /whenever there are extra hours in a week
- [ ] Schedule personal appts
- [ ] Plan & book travel arrangements
- [ ] Set up a birthday Google Calendar so we never miss people's birthdays
- [ ] Order, wrap, & ship gifts/cards
- [ ] Space organization (office, closets, files, etc)
- [ ] Pack, unpack before/after travel
- [ ] Do a walkthrough of the house, garage, outdoor spaces → make a list of things that could be improved: peeling paint, dirty windows, empty printer cartridge, etc
- [ ] Tackle items one by one over time
- [ ] Google, read reviews, compare prices to find the best vendors for house stuff/other services
- [ ] Deal with tech issues, random breakdowns, etc
- [ ] Tackle all those one-off projects there'snevertime for
- [ ] Finally organize the file cabinet and recycle documents no longer needed
- [ ] Review what's in the fireproof safe/box, make sure all our important stuff is in it (passports, social security cards, etc)
- [ ] Put together an emergency preparedness kit
REQUIREMENTS & RESULTS
Requirements:
- You're comfortable completing the above tasks for a 3-story, 3-bed/3-bathroom home
- You have a vehicle
- You're punctual
- You're a prompt and friendly communicator
- You're highly organized and detail-oriented
- You're proficient with computers
Desired results:
- The house is clean
- The kitchen is well-stocked with healthy ingredients so we can quickly assemble meals throughout the week
- The remaining boxes that are still unpacked from our recent move are gradually dealt with, and everything is organized + neatly put away
