POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Network Engineer administers a highly-available, secure and cost-effective data communications network that supports network requirements for services provided to Company. This role is responsible for maintaining a secure data and voice communications network and administering core routers and switches to ensure reliable access to network systems, applications, and services. The Network Engineer also provides all level operations support for network related cases and incidents. Company is starting on a modernization program in 2020 where we will migrate to a Software-Defined Network.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage on-going WAN operation procedures documentation for configurations, set-up, upgrades, recovery procedures and network related projects. Ensure network infrastructure meets security and compliancy policies.
Designing, building, testing, implementing, and optimizing highly available global network infrastructure in accordance with business and application requirements, security policies, and best practices.
Maintain scheduled availability of 99.98% for core routers and switches
Provide pro-active network monitoring of core and customer connectivity. Monitor for errors, and service availability. Work with internal customers and vendors to resolve network related issues.
Ensures the stability and integrity of company voice and data network services by providing oversight over as well as the planning, design and development of multiple projects.
High-level analysis and troubleshooting of network infrastructure.
Provide a consultative role to implement network topologies that provide the highest availability possible.
Ensure effective capacity planning for network connections
Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's business strategy.
Maintain accuracy of Company’s network topology & BCP procedures
Maintain a secure data and voice communications network
Cross-training with other team members is required to ensure that all critical networking components can be recovered by any one individual.
Comply with ITIL change management procedures & audit requirements
Act as a SME in cross-functional project teams, execute scheduled tasks, and manage documentation
Participate in implementing improvements to manual process to leverage the infrastructure and technologies for greater efficiencies
Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures
Ensure work and projects are completed promptly and thoroughly.
Sets own goals and holds self and others accountable for achieving goals aligned with current and future business strategy.
Collaborates with leadership to assess near and long-term network capacity needs and direction.
Provides all level support for computer networking problems and trouble tickets. Provides troubleshooting of complex computer networking problems and issues.
Performs daily monitoring and management of the network infrastructure. Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed. Monitors and tests the network performance and provides performance statistics and reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5 years + Cisco ASA remote access troubleshooting experience –
Cisco ASA reverse proxy troubleshooting experience
3 years + Cisco AnyConnect VPN client experience and policy troubleshooting
Checkpoint Firewall configuration and policy troubleshooting experience
IDS/IPS troubleshooting experience
Event logging analysis experience
Experience with doing Packet Captures/ Data Packet Analysis - Cisco Advance Routing and troubleshooting experience
At minimum, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification
Solid understanding of network fundamentals, experience implementing local area networks and internet connectivity, experience managing network device security, experience implementing WAN and basic IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity
Experience operating, maintaining, configuring, making changes to, and troubleshooting network devices including, but not limited to:
Cisco ASA firewall
Routers
Switches
VPN
Meraki Switches
Riverbed Wan Optimization, Riverbed SDN and Versa SDN products.
5 years of relevant experience in TCP/IP, ACLs, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, NAT, QoS, SNMP, and VoIP.
Technical/operational level understanding of carrier-based services (DS3, T1, T3, DS3, OC3, E1, ISDN, POTS, MPLS, and VPN) and direct experience troubleshooting circuits
Experience with SolarWinds monitoring and IP Address Management (IPAM)
Experience with network protocol analyzers
Experience with IPSS, MPLS and MTIPs
5+ years of demonstrable network-focused infrastructure experience
Must have experience with Cisco equipment and appliances; proficient with Cisco IOS.
Must have experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solarwinds)
Thorough understanding of VLAN and spanning-tree technologies
Thorough understanding of maintenance issues related to managing co-locations
