Job Description

We're looking for a self-motivated curriculum developer to help us expand tech greatness in the St. Louis area.

The Education Program Developer creates, tests, and deploys education materials for use by the Impact and Training Teams. This role develops, researches, and evaluates educational materials. It also oversees pilot course implementation and delivery to assess effectiveness. Education Program Developers maintain active communication with the Impact and Training Teams to address timely issues, learn about areas needing improvement, and support course delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Creates Effective Education Materials
    • Creates educational resources that effectively teach job-ready skills to learners from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience level
    • Creates a meaningful, high-quality, motivating learning experience throughout all education programs.
    • Creates resources to effectively support course staff in their work.

  • Research and Continued Learning
    • Researches and evaluates educational materials, including both LaunchCode-owned and third-party material
    • Learns new topics and technologies as needed in order to support the needs of LaunchCode education programs.
    • Understands industry trends and how they affect entry-level hiring.

  • Supports Course Delivery
    • Sets up and maintains technical systems to support courses.
    • Oversees pilot course implementation and delivery in order to assess effectivenes
    • Maintains active communication with instructors and teaching assistants to address timely issues, learn about areas needing improvement, and support course delivery.
    • Understands and communicates the motivation behind course design and implementation to LaunchCode staff and course staff.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and fast-moving team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong expository writing and editing skills.
  • Mastery of core programming skills in 1-2 modern languages-such as JS, Python, Java, C#. Mastery includes but is not limited to data structures, functions, and classes.
  • Understanding of how different languages, frameworks, and technologies relate to each other.
  • Familiarity with common development practices used by professional programmers.
  • Positive feedback behaviors, including providing and receiving constructive, non-personal feedback that is focused on the quality of the product and learner experience.
  • Empathy for learners from a wide variety of backgrounds.

All full-time roles at LaunchCode come with:

  • Competitive salary - This will be a salaried position in the range of $55-59,000/year.
