Canyon Creek Nursery is currently hiring for a seasonal field worker at our nursery in Billings, Montana. We are a retail and wholesale nursery who own and manage 20-acres of quality trees, shrubs, perennials and annual plants in the Yellowstone Valley.
We are looking for a competent and efficient field worker to assist in heavy outdoor work during the spring/summer/fall season.
Hours: Varied, full-time (40 hours), seasonal with some weekend days required.
Salary: Varies depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The nursery field worker will be required to work a seasonal (weather-variable, spring/summer/fall) work schedule of 40 hours a week with flexible hours as needed. Weekend work will be required.
Field work includes daily inspection of the nursery's trees, shrubs, and plants for need of irrigation, trimming and weed abatement.
Regular use and efficient maintenance of all heavy equipment (tractor, skid steer, etc.) at nursery.
Provide regular, timely and efficient irrigation of nursery trees and plants as needed to ensure health of all stock.
Assist in digging and loading field-grown trees and bulk materials (stone, mulch, and soil) for customers in a manner that is safe and efficient.
Assist in inventory of trees and nursery supplies as manager directs.
Assist in regular unloading and organization of nursery tree and plant deliveries.
Assist in all necessary nursery-related activities as directed.
Must be able to work safely and efficiently outdoors in all weather conditions.
Job requires very heavy lifting and manual labor (digging, carrying, and maneuvering) on a regular basis.
Required and Requested Skills:
Interest or experience in agriculture, horticulture or landscaping a plus. Willingness to learn a must.
Skills and experience with welding are helpful.
Must be able to follow instructions in detail with timely accomplishment of tasks as set out by management.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Experience or willingness to be trained on skid steer, forklift, mower, and other large machinery is required.
Have or be willing to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License.
High school diploma or equivalent necessary.
