Yellowstone Montessori Academy is looking for ONE full-time and TWO part-time Assistant Teachers for our Primary class (ages 3 - 6 years).
Qualifications:
A person applying for Assistant Teacher position must be at least 18 years of age and meet the requirements of the city and state licensing agencies. This person must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to young children. In addition, s/he must be willing to fulfill his/her responsibilities in accordance with Yellowstone Montessori's educational philosophy. The Assistant Teacher will work as a team member with the lead teacher and 3 other teachers. This person must be emotionally mature, kind, attentive and patient person who understands how to communicate with and listen to 3 to 6 year old children.
Some of the things that you will do as an Assistant Teacher include, but are not limited to:
Preparing snacks and supervising the children while they eat their snacks from 9:00am to 11:00am and then cleaning up afterwards.
Assisting with supervision of students in the classroom during scheduled hours between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Assisting with supervision of after school care students between the hours of 3:00 to 5:15 pm in the classroom and/or play yard.
Dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming and otherwise thoroughly cleaning the environment including the kitchen, bathrooms, cubby room;
Refilling supplies and properly storing all classroom supplies as directed by the Teachers.
Assisting the teachers with care and maintenance of the classroom materials, i.e. maintaining an orderly environment and keeping it clean and in good condition.
Assisting in the preparation of curriculum materials as directed.
Helping with the maintenance of the inventory of supplies for the classroom.
Helping with the maintenance of current, accurate classroom records by writing down lessons given, incident reports, lists of supplies and snack foods needed; etc.
Assisting with projects, programs and planning as requested by the teachers.
Supporting the teachers' and students' work in all aspects of the classroom environment;
Spark imagination, assist children in making positive choices and help the students build self-esteem while they discover new things each day.
Learn to teach grace and courtesy lessons by explanation and example.
Learn to guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children.
Supervise the children on the playground.
Communicate effectively with other teachers and be able to interact well with parents and management in a traditional early child care setting.
We are looking for candidates who are as passionate about the growth and development of each precious child in our care as we are. We are most interested in talking to applicants that have the following qualifications:
Coursework in Early Childhood education or child development
Impeccable references and a proven track record of caring for and nurturing young children
The ability to meet state primary caregiver requirements for education and experience as well as a clean driving record. The successful candidate will have to clear federal and state background checks.
Willing and able to work from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm or 8:45 am to 5:15 pm with ½ hour for lunch; full time 5 days per week. Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work. Part-time schedules may be mornings or afternoons from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Willing to sign a contract to work from September 1, 2020 to June 11, 2021. Summer Session hours are negotiable. Probationary period is 6 months.
