This position is essential to the success of the service area along with the growth of all aspects of the power equipment department. The mechanic is responsible for exceptional service repairs on both customer and Murdoch's owned equipment. Outstanding problem solving and diagnostic skills are required with little or no supervision.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Repair and service power equipment
Advise customers on proper maintenance and operation of equipment
Assist with parts lookup
Assist at parts counter when called upon
Prepare new equipment for sale
Determine cost effectiveness of repairing versus replacing
Update and obtain equipment repair certifications
Daily, serve customers in a fast, courteous, and knowledgeable fashion
Respond to customer requests
Assist with pick-ups and carry-outs
Perform other duties as assigned

Able to multi-task and make quick, decisive decisions
Excel in a fast paced, evolving work environment
Strong computer skills
Proven mechanic ability
Able to remain organized and on schedule
Effective problem-solving skills
Able to work with little or no supervision
Physical Demands:
Stand for long periods of time in inclement weather
Heavy and repetitive lifting (no more than 50 lbs)
Bending, carrying, and pushing
Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
Close vision for PC work
