JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the diagnosis and repair of all heavy equipment (including removing, repairing, assembling, installing) and performs failure analysis of all equipment including engines, hydraulics, and transmissions. The technician performs jobs that range from basic and preventative maintenance and fluid changes to independent diagnosis and repair.

Essential Functions

Troubleshoots and tests various machine systems, compares test results to specifications and determines if the system is working as designed. Walks around machinery to inspect.

Operates machinery to locate problem.

Determines what services are required to repair the machine and performs failure analysis.

Asks for assistance as needed in failure analysis and diagnosing problems for quality control.

Performs maintenance and repairs as assigned by Supervisor.

Gathers parts needed for repair, using parts book to accurately determine correct parts required for the job.

Uses technician tools, including but not limited to: service manuals, operations manuals, computer programs and resources and parts books effectively to address technical issues

Performs all required tasks in accordance with printed procedures.

Writes service order report for every machine repair in detail. Prints off hardcopy of service report with work orders and saves to server.

Assists other technicians as needed on repairs.

Handles all customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.

Adheres to all customer care standards.

Actively cares and advocates safety. Adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.

Work within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Associates Degree or technical training from an accredited vocational school preferred.

Entry-level technician requirements - Six months minimum experience working on heavy equipment and light equipment with hydraulic, engine and power train experience required.

Experienced technician requirements - Three to five years experience working on heavy equipment with hydraulic, engine and power train experience and the ability to disassemble, assemble, remove and install machine components required.

Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Physical Characteristics

Must be able to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.

Exposure to extreme temperatures and environment.

Exposure to high noise level.

Exposure to fumes.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies

Requirements

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Basic computer/typing skills and knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Consistent attendance and timeliness.

Physical Requirements
