Clark Fork School's nature-based after-school program is looking for energetic, part-time teacher to work with our Kindergarten-5th grade students after school.

Hours:

Lead teachers: All times dependent on student numbers.

M, T, F = 2:45-6 + 5 hours planning

W = 1:30-6

R = 1:45-6

Assistants: All times dependent on student numbers.

M, T, F = 2:45-6

W = 1:30-6

R = 1:45-6

Assistants will usually, though not always, leave at or before 5:30pm.

Requirements:

Lead teachers: Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or two years experience in a licensed childcare setting. Background in nature education strongly preferred. Respect for nature, a love for children, and a caring demeanor is a must!

Assistants: High school diploma. Experience in outdoor or early childhood education preferred. Respect for nature, a love for children, and a caring demeanor is a must!

Job responsibilities:

Lead Teacher:

Plan and implement a place-based, developmentally-appropriate, and student-centered curriculum.

Model and teach environmentally sensitive behaviors.

Foster a sense of wonder for community and the outside world.

Maintain consistency across all programs.

Supervise, mentor and collaborate with assistant.

Demonstrate a passion for nature and place-based education.

Ensure the classroom dynamic promotes healthy student develop and a deep sense of wonder.

Assistant Teacher:

Assist the lead teacher in activity prep, clean-up, and the teaching of the day’s theme.

Assist lead teacher in playground and classroom supervision, using positive guidance and various instructional techniques.

Both Leads and Assistants:

Demonstrate a passion for place-based education.

Build collaborative relationships with co-workers, students, and all members of the CFS community.

Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work with all age groups.

Demonstrate passion and excitement for education.

Genuinely listen to students and react with care and compassion.

Play.

Physical Demands: The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the educator to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: Standing for long periods of time, walking, hiking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, talking, hearing, visual acuity, significant time spent outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting up to 60 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Compensation:

Lead: $12.00-$12.50 DOE

Assistants: $10.00-$10.50 DOE
