Title: Line Cook

Department: Base Lodge, Ed & Mullys or Summit House

Status: Full time Seasonal (FTS)

FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Job Summary: The Line Cook plays a key role in contributing to customer satisfaction by ensuring food is prepared to WMRs highest standards. The Line cook may work at Ed & Mullys located in the Whitefish Mountain Resort Village, the Summit House located on the summit of Big Mountain and the Base Lodge located at the bottom of Chair 6.

Job Relationships:

Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Employees Supervised: None

Job Specifications:

High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Two year degree in culinary arts or hospitality field, preferred.

Minimum 3 years of food & beverage general experience.

Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

Excellent decision making, strong leadership and people skills.

Ability to work within a TeamĀ atmosphere.

Ability to function during times of high stress and the ability to deal fairly with customers and co-workers.

Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision.

Must have the ability to change work priorities to best accommodate customer needs.

Deal calmly with guest complaints and work quickly toward finding an agreeable solution.

Establishes and maintains appropriate and effective working relationships with internal and external guests at all levels of the organization.

Is knowledgeable of Whitefish Mountain Resort products and shares that information with guests.

Must be able to work within the framework of the company and the department policies and procedures as set forth in the employee manuals.

Subject to WSIs Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties.

Specific Duties:

Ensure the highest overall quality of the food and beverage service. Responsible for overall quality of guest services and products. Includes: restaurant, banquet and catering functions.

Maintains proper sanitation.

Responsible for proper maintenance and cleaning of facility and equipment, inside and outside.

Is knowledgeable of and able to implement security and safety protocols.

Ensure that appropriate standards regarding interior environment, atmosphere and theme are maintained.

Assists kitchen manager in maintaining overall financial performance of restaurant as established by budgetary guidelines. This includes but is not limited to revenue generation, cost of goods sold, inventory and rotation of stock.

Is consistent with ingredients used and portioning.

Establishes and maintains appropriate and effective working relationships with internal and external guests at all levels of the organization.

Safety & Wellness:

All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity

Work Environment:

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 10 to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to be on ones feet for extended time periods up to 8 hours daily.

Requires moderate physical activity to include constant bending, stooping, lifting, climbing stairs and stretching on a frequent basis.

Requires use of approved chemical cleaning agents on a daily basis. Cleaning supplies may require use of potentially hazardous chemicals. Proper training of the use of these chemicals will be provided and material safety data sheets will be available for each chemical used in the workplace.

Flexibility in schedule changes on short notice is required.

Working at the Summit House will require traveling on the chair lift / gondola.

Ability to travel work (to Summit House) under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature.

Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times.

Non-smoking environment.
