Situated at the border between Idaho and Montana on Highway 12, The Lolo Pass Visitor Center is operated by the U.S. Forest Service as a key information center and rest stop on this busy highway. Discover Your Northwest (DYNW), a Seattle based non-profit, operates a retail store at the visitor center. We are looking for a manager for this location. This person is also a key member Lolo Pass team that manages to center.

DYNW www.discovernw.org/ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Northwest national parks, forests, and other public land agencies with their mission to provide educational materials and services to the visiting public. Headquartered in downtown Seattle, we operate 100 book sales outlets scattered across five states. A DYNW Branch Manager is responsible for managing an individual DYNW branch location, and back office functions. The Branch Manager is critically important to the success of DYNW’s mission to serve its agency partners, they are the “go-to” person at each branch for both DYNW Seattle Staff and on-site agency staff. The Branch manager reports to the DYNW Executive Director (in terms of DYNW-related duties) but works with considerable independence to ensure the success of the branch and DYNW’s mission.

Responsibilities include:

Working closely with forest service staff to ensure that DYNW fulfills its mission to build community stewardship of northwest public lands and returns the highest possible level of support to the agency’s interpretive efforts.

Ordering product and merchandising: to maximize the unique sales potential of the Lolo Pass bookstore.

Maintaining detailed accounting and inventory records for all branch operations.

Ensuring that all funds are properly safeguarded, deposited, and posted in accounting records in a timely manner.

Performing annual inventory and researching discrepancies.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to move and lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Professional Requirements:

2+ years’ experience in retail sales and management.

Demonstrated experience in providing outstanding customer service.

Demonstrated experience in ordering merchandise and maintaining seasonally fluctuating inventory.

Demonstrated experience as a contributing member of a management team.

Demonstrated experience with bookkeeping and inventory control.

Familiarity with the branch location and its principal visitor attractions.

Familiarity with common office software (i.e. Word, Excel,)
