Nelcon Inc., established in 1981, is seeking a qualified, skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Must have minimum 5 yrs. General mechanic experience, but would prefer more. Must be able to travel for extended periods of time, to satellite job sites. Must have a basic knowledge of equipment used in Heavy Highway Construction, Crushing Spreads, Asphalt operations, Commercial Highway Tractors and Trailers. Must be self-motivated and able to work efficiently at a fast pace. Must be able to adapt to Nelcon's Culture, and Motto; BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE SAFE.
Skills/Knowledge needed for this position; Welding, Heavy Equipment operation and mechanics, Truck/Trailer Combinations, Diesel mechanics, Basic computer skills, Computerized Caterpillar and Komatsu systems. Knowledge with Equipment Management Software helpful. Experience with Caterpillar and Cummings or working at a CAT or Interstate Dealership would also be preferable. Candidate must be safety minded and have a good safety record.
Prefer a mechanic to bring their own tools but not required. Must be able to show competencies through certifications and work history to qualify according to DOT standards (Part 393 and Appendix G) to do Annual Periodic Inspections. Must be able to prioritize work load to maximize time. This position will report to the Equipment Manager.
