Regular/TemporaryRegularAdd to Favorite JobsEmail this JobResponsibilitiesThe Community Engagement Coordinator will develop key internal and external relationships that will advocate for public engagement that is diverse and inclusive as part of the Economic Development and External Relations Division. This role will also identify, monitor, and engage key stakeholder groups around issues relevant to the business. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work with manager to implement strategic objectives and use his or her extensive knowledge of stakeholders’ needs and preferences to increase communication effectiveness and impact. This role will also organize employees and employ tactics to engage with stakeholders around issues of common interest. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Work closely with manager and business partners to identify key stakeholder groups and key areas of importance to both the business and stakeholders.

Work with business partners to use surveys, media and online tracking, and other active listening techniques to develop a holistic view of how stakeholders feel about company-relevant issues.

Analyze and select the most effective and sustainable channels to monitor and reach targeted segments so they can receive, digest, and share information.

Consider stakeholders that are representative of interested and impacted customer-owner segments.

Collaborate with business partners and Corporate Marketing & Communications on optimal message content and timing for different stakeholder segments.

Create transparent, channel-appropriate communications to engage stakeholders and to build trust and favorable perception.

Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Corporate Marketing & Communications to develop strategic messages regarding key stakeholder inquiries to ensure fast and controlled responses.

Collaborate with outreach team and vendors to ensure organization and implementation of identified outreach efforts.

Continually review stakeholder engagement process to improve and/or streamline stakeholder interactions.

Lead production/planning teams, concept development, writing and editing, and coordinating graphic materials.

Develop benchmarks, standards and reporting to measure the impact of stakeholder engagement initiatives on targeted business outcomes.

Evaluate and determine the appropriate techniques and methods for tracking stakeholder opinions and themes on important business issues.

Work closely with business partners to share stakeholder feedback and project outcomes for shaping business activities and strategies.

Provide information and analysis that is accurate, sound and relevant through an agreed process.

Develop an action plan resulting from engagement initiatives that improves communication outcomes.

Establish and implement organizational procedures for alignment and consistency in reporting to management and/or the Board.

Prepare and present verbal and written reports to the Executive Team and/or Board as required.

Inform, communicate, consult and engage with OPPD’s key stakeholders, identify existing barriers to the effective engagement of our key stakeholders and develop communication and engagement initiatives that enable increased stakeholder satisfaction.

Raise the profile of OPPD business matters to key stakeholders.

Establish relationships with key stakeholders.

Maintain stakeholder relationships, once established, through regular communication activities as identified with each stakeholder.

Build capacity and knowledge of each key stakeholder to ensure effective communication outcomes by clearly defining lines of communication.

Engage stakeholders at the most direct level and ensure that level is appropriate for the purpose.

Strengthen engagement approaches and key relationships and identify the gaps and weaknesses.

Identify, and where possible, understand stakeholder issues, interests, aspirations and concerns to better define what matters most.

Effectively manage the expectations of stakeholders by being clear about what is negotiable and what is set in stone.

Lead in the development and implementation of outreach, communication and public involvement strategies and plans.

Manage internal teams/subject matter experts, and support, including vendors

Coordinate project-related data gathering to support stakeholder outreach and Economic Development and External Relations Division objectives.

Manage distribution lists for inclusion in project databases.

Research industry news coverage and industry trends for client projects, including best practices.

QualificationsRequired:

Bachelor’s Degree in communication, marketing, public administration, community affairs, public relations and/or related field OR five (5) years of related work experience

Five (5) years of experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation

Strong organizational, project management, problem solving and analytical skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills

Experience working with government sector and diverse stakeholder groups

Desired:

International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) experience

Certified Public Participation Professional

Ability to work independently, and to handle sensitive and confidential matters discretely and tactfully.

Working knowledge of OPPD operations, policies, procedures and programs.
