The GBU’s acquire, develop and operate Oracle’s Industry Specific solutions, reaching across 8 different industry units and well over 50 distinct products. The role involves, developing, migrating, improving, designing, and prototyping complex cross-product solutions involving Oracle’s Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) with a primary focus of this role being DevOps scripting and automation. The role will play a critical part in moving our entire product portfolio to the cloud, often including complex movement scenarios and providing guidance as well as roll up your sleeve’s engagement for the remaking of the cross GBU product portfolio to a set of fully cloud native and cloud products. The position entails a high level of internal visibility with senior management. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for structuring and leading complex, strategic internal and external engagements involving coordination across teams and products, innovative use of Oracle’s Cloud Development products and tools, and establishing a regular feedback channel into the Development organization resulting in product improvements and innovations.Typical Duties and Responsibilities include:

Design complex and innovative solutions leveraging Oracle Cloud offerings to address critical business requirements of our customers.

Develop tools to assist in the migration of Oracle Solutions to the Cloud

Manage competing, quickly changing priorities effectively and handle input from many internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.

Structure and execute plans for a given project in challenging environments with a minimum of guidance.

Closely collaborate with high caliber peers and a variety of teams and groups in a highly dynamic environment.

Identify recurring patterns and solutions and generalize these for broader re-use across the entire ecosystem.

Identify common pain points in Oracle products and Solutions, and propose alternatives to improve them.

Establish relationships and feedback channels into product management and product engineering ultimately resulting in product improvements and innovations.

Strong understanding of cloud architecture and hybrid on-premises / cloud designs. Strong technical skills and a system wide vision including all aspects of the cloud ecosystem.

Fluent in current Oracle SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS products and experienced in designing complex and large-scale cloud projects, ideally spread across a variety of industries and functional domains

Strong understanding and hands-on experience in Oracle PaaS and IaaS related technologies – such as Java, integration, mobile, security, storage, compute, and networking.

Highly motivated, self-starter with a quick learning style and a strong ambition to remain up to date with current technologies and trends.

Exceptional analytical and critical reasoning skills capable of flexible and lateral thinking.

Ability to strongly lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and other Oracle teams.

Understanding of Open source and non-Oracle products and solutions.

Inclination to coach – through trainings, public forums, blogs, and conferences.

Highly developed interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills; demonstrated comfort level for presentations to senior leadership level meetings.

Work with and across all levels within the business to develop the “best” solution to an issue/business need required.

Have deep expertise in DevOps principles and an ability to develop automation utilizing a variety of technologies, including but not limited to: Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana/Graphite, Ruby/JavaScript, Windows, Linux, Git, OpenStack, Vagrant, ELK Stack, Virtualization Technologies, Cloud Technologies

Basic Qualifications

A master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or a Bachelor’s Degree and comparable experience in software development, information technology, and/or data architecture.

Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in progressively responsible information technology.

Extensive experience with cloud services in the areas of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.

The responsibilities include assisting in the development of strategies and collaboration in origination efforts for thermal energy resources including technical evaluations and participate in the coordination of funding, rate impacts and communication for these efforts which are vitally important. The position will also engage in coordinating the inclusion of these resources into the business plans of business units associated with execution and operations. The position will engage at the national, state, and local levels creating strong relationships with our customer owners, community groups, state and local government officials and Nebraska utilities.
