Bicycle Mechanic and Bike Educator

Vacancy expired!

Framework Cycles is looking for a skilled mechanic to join our team.

Located in North Denver, Framework Cycles and sister company, Pinwheel Coffee, are joined at the hip. Together, we serve our Denver community’s coffee and cycling needs. Our bike selection caters to urban riders and families who want to make the most of their cycling experience. Commuting, cargo, ebikes, and recreational models fill our sales floor. Our service center welcomes all makes and models and has developed a strong reputation in a short amount of time. We take pride in both our technical work and the respect and care we provide to our customers.

Organizational Culture

We are a community-driven and service-oriented bicycle/coffee operation. A few years ago, that in itself could have been considered novel. However, there is something else that definitely makes our business (and your job) unique. The bike shop, along with the coffee shop next door, serve as real world classrooms for Embark Education, an integrated micro-middle school. The students’ learning experiences are embedded into the day-to-day shop operations. This means that the students of Embark Education and their educators utilize the shop space and resources in their everyday curriculum. For example, physics principles are displayed using a bike wheel, and drivetrain ratios are calculated in a math lesson.

This is not an ordinary bike shop and we are no ordinary organization. While we are 100% committed to operating as a premier bike shop, we are also committed to play a role in a larger mission of relevant and personalized education. The biggest challenges and rewards of this position will involve working in this atmosphere containing both operational and educational components. The goal of the student shop shifts is for students to engage in embedded real world learning. This role will be responsible for fostering student learning experience when they are present at their shifts.
