The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Health Information Specialist, Quality Assurance. This position is responsible for operations and support within the Health Information Management Department, while following the applicable policies and procedures established by the CCH Board of Directors and Management staff. This position is located at 2130 Stout Street., Denver, Colorado 80205 and reports to the Health Information Manager.

Pay Type: Hourly, Full-Time

Compensation hiring range: $19.19 - $23.02

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for the Document Management system in the electronic health record (EHR), including adding new document types, ensuring that the security settings are correct, and providing training for staff.

Responsible for coordinating communication regarding deceased patients (e.g. requesting death certificates, closing charts, providing requested data to the coroner).

Send and receive requests for disclosure of protected health information (PHI) according to established procedures, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other Confidentiality Laws.

Coordinate with the integrated healthcare team to maintain an integrated and organized health information system.

Respond to subpoenas for health records with guidance from the Health Information Manager.

Provide backup for the Health Information Technician as needed.

Attend department and committee meetings as required.

Demonstrate competency with continued learning and application of the EHR.

Maintains current and complete COVID‐19 vaccination(s), as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities

Qualifications Summary

High school diploma or GED; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent experience is preferred.

Minimum two years of administrative experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Current active Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification is preferred.
