Baker Hughes is seeking a geology or earth sciences student or recent graduate for a 6-week barite exploration program near Battle Mountain, Nevada. The barite exploration program includes a multi-week drilling program, logging of borehole lithology, and the use of borehole geophysics for gamma logging of the strata. The intern will be preparing lithologic logs of each borehole under the direction of a registered professional geologist and working closely with the drilling and borehole geophysics contractors to execute the exploration program. Following the field program, additional work at the BHGE Battle Mountain office may include core preservation and photography; cross section preparation and geologic interpretation; or additional research tasks related to barite exploration and mine development. The ideal candidate will have completed a minimum of 3 semesters of geology or earth sciences core curriculum; be self-motivated, have strong communication skills, and be capable of working in remote locations, under adverse conditions for long days, up to 6 days per week.
