Job Summary

This position is responsible for customer service and renewal support for our clients. It is tasked with maintaining positive client relationships by actively managing accounts and assisting in sustaining these clients. This position is an important point of contact for the day-to-day servicing of clients and is expected to answer questions, educate clients, and resolve issues on a wide variety of benefit topics with little to no direct assistance from the rest of the service team.

Job Requirements

Working knowledge of group health plans, life and disability plans

Ability to research, acquire and apply group health and wellness information to specific client needs

Ability to keep abreast of industry trends and to interpret the effect of carrier/product modifications

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to effectively build and maintain client and colleague relationships

Capable of working on multiple tasks simultaneously, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Strong customer service skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite and ability to self-direct learning when necessary

Ability to use Internet for information gathering and data entry purposes

Ability to become proficient with industry software, web-based technology and agency management systems

Primary Responsibilities

Service existing employee benefit accounts including additions, terminations, billing issues, process renewals, open enrollment assistance, creating quotes/proposals, etc.

Prepare quotes and proposals for new employee benefit prospects

Answer client questions on a variety of benefit topics including but not limited to: coverages, plan structure, renewal rates, claims issues, billing issues, compliance questions and others.

Review plan documents, summary plan descriptions, benefit outlines, summary benefit descriptions and other benefit plan materials for accuracy for clients for all lines of business.

Maintain thorough knowledge of regulatory issues affecting benefit plans and provide updates to clients when necessary.

Maintains and updates technical manuals, and understands its use to perform technical tasks and expedite customer service requests.

Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by agency management.

Generates documents and produces correspondence to satisfy client service requests or to provide automated information, as needed by client

Works with manager to schedule and plan visits to clients

Actively seeks referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects; follows up to generate new business using prospect database and systems

Education and Experience

College Degree or Equivalent Industry Experience

Two (2) years of experience and knowledge with Employee Benefits

Agency experience preferred.

Exceptional organization and Clients Service Skills

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Must be willing to undergo a background check

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16-$20 DOE
