Good Afternoon,
We are a group of 4-5 Incline Village families seeking a full-time (or part-time) elementary school teacher to instruct our group of 5-9 students in grades 1st, 2nd (maybe), and 4th graders on a daily basis. There is a possibility to have afternoon tutoring/facilitating for some older siblings (6th and 8th grader) while the elementary kids are off doing parent-let activities. These families value an education with social and emotional learning, exploration, curiosity, problem solving, fun, and they want to foster a love of learning. At home, we have strong family values where the parents and children create and expect an environment of respect, honest discussions, responsibility, reflection, perseverance and empathy.
Logistics:
Monday-Friday mornings (9am-12pm) curriculum that is grade-appropriate for elementary students. Afternoons (1-3:30pm) may alternate between project based group activities (adventure, spanish, science, art, music, performance, cooking, etc.) and tutoring/facilitating older siblings. Parents are willing to lead afternoon activities if the teacher is only available part-time.
Qualifications:
- K-5 Credentials
- Elementary School age experience (2+ yrs preferred, not a deal breaker)
- Enjoys Tahoe winters & snow
Preferences:
- Eager & energetic - someone who is able to engage & motivate children
- Stimulating & creative - able to create/find/form curriculum that is engaging
- Adaptive - be excited to change up the routine to be outdoors, hands-on, project facilitator
- Organized - able to teach various levels of abilities, at a minimum to NV state standards
Resources/Benefits Provided:
- Salary for Sept 2020 through mid June 2021, based on full-time (mornings and afternoons) or part-time (mornings only) and experience
- Daily parent for classroom assistance
- Teacher’s school-aged children are welcome to join
