Job Description

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Student Support
    • Plan for and execute regular one-on-one and small group meetings with a caseload of up to 240 9th grade students
    • Help students progress towards high school graduation and post-secondary plans through proactive advising, tailored interventions, and targeted programming
    • Partner with the 9th grade team to create and implement academic and behavioral support plans for 9th grade students
    • Work in partnership with school leadership to ensure 9th grade students end the year with grade point averages that put them on track for quality post-secondary pathways
    • Maintain consistent engagement and partnership with families of 9th grade students
  • Student Programming
    • Plan and lead student events, college and career visits and exposures, and other workshops focused on the essential skills, mindsets and exposure necessary for high school and post-secondary success
    • Plan and lead workshops for families on the essential topics related to high school and post-secondary success
  • Data Management
    • Track meeting notes and student data – both qualitative and quantitative – consistently and accurately
    • Analyze student academic data to drive action planning and support plans
    • Present out key data trends to school staff

Qualifications

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A belief that all children can succeed and that our students deserve the futures of their dreams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills A growth mindset and “do whatever it takes” approach
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • A willingness to partner with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours including some evenings and weekends

Nice to have:

  • An understanding of the post-secondary landscape in New Jersey
  • Experience with academic counseling
  • Experience working with first generation, low income, and/or underrepresented students
  • Experience teaching or tutoring middle or high school students
  • Experience with Salesforce, Excel, and Google spreadsheets
  • Experience supporting students with special needs
