Performs responsible and semi professional duties on a rotational basis in traditionaldrug distribution system, ambulatory patient services and pharmacy service units.Responsibilities:Certified Pharmacy Technicians: Interprets and fills prescriptions according to prescription specifications. Types and affixes labels to containersshowing identification data and directions for use. Prepares sterile and non-sterile products according to established procedures.Certified and/or Registered Pharmacy Technicians: Fills, packages and stocks patient medication carts in unit dose distribution system. Delivers tovarious units.Maintains adequate working levels of pharmaceuticals in assigned areas and monitors for expiration dates. Orders supplies from the warehouse andprocesses all work orders. Updates pharmacy inventory data in computer from receiving reports to ensure accurate accounting of medications.Inspects medicine rooms and treatment areas throughout the Hospital. Maintains and inspects emergency drug boxes on units.Enters and tracks pharmacy data on computerized pharmaceutical system to ensure accuracy of records in compliance with Federal standards.Prepares and conducts random audits on Pharmacy inventory to ensure distribution record accuracy. Prepares materials for yearly physical inventoryto ensure accurate reporting of drug inventory information.Gathers and compiles workload and other statistics for Quality Assurance Programs. Operates a personal computer and associated software i.e. MSOffice, EXCEL.As needed, types, photocopies, and distributes all departmental correspondence. Maintains files for all departmental records and correspondence.Answers telephone and direct calls to appropriate individuals within department. Schedules appointments for the Director.Total Commitment to QualityParticipates in the formulation of the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives for the Department. Carries out same by acting as an agent of theDepartment within the hospital.
