The drive to excel and thrive in an engaged, collaborative environment?Golder has a new opportunity for Staff Geotechnical or Geological Engineer to join our Manchester, New Hampshire; Westborough, Massachusetts; or York, Maine office locations to work as part of a team on civil, geotechnical and geological engineering projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to perform geotechnical and geologic evaluations and calculations, write technical documents, conduct subsurface investigations, and provide field monitoring, testing, and sampling for a variety of projects. Assignments may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates.Responsibilities of the role will include:

Scope, budget, execute, monitor and interpret subsurface exploration programs, with direction and support from senior staff;

Monitor and log test boring explorations including visual identification and classification of soil and rock materials, and preparation of boring logs using multiple logging software programs;

Perform geologic hazard assessments;

Install and monitor geotechnical instrumentation systems with support from senior staff;

Assign, review and interpret the results from geotechnical laboratory testing programs;

Perform geotechnical calculations and analyses involving interpretation of subsurface conditions, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation engineering, and slope stabilization.

Perform geotechnical analyses with computer models for pile and drilled shaft foundation capacities, slope/embankment stability, MSE wall foundation design, and foundation/embankment settlement estimates.

Prepare geotechnical data reports, and report quality calculation packages;

Develop geotechnical recommendation for final designs with senior review;

Ability to work with a team or with minimal supervision, and with contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers;

Assist with writing technical reports, design memoranda, field reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review.

Thesuccessful candidate will possess:

BS inCivil/Geotechnical Engineering, Geologic Engineering or related fieldrequired; MS in Geotechnical or Geologic Engineering is preferred;

Academic orprofessional training in soil mechanics, rock mechanics and foundationengineering with emphasis in several of the following areas: geology,subsurface investigations, geotechnical laboratory testing, mechanics ofmaterials, structural engineering, foundation support systems, slopestability analyses, soil and rock slope stabilization, earth support structures,geohazards and geomorphology, GIS, and environmental engineering;

One to three years ofexperience in the geology or geotechnical, structural, civil, miningand/or environmental engineering field is preferred;

Candidates with aFE/EIT registration will receive primary consideration;

Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities,leadership ability, a positive attitude and ability to work bothindependently and within groups;

Travel and field workrequired as dictated by project demands;

Additional desirableskills include: field logging and sampling, experience with slopestability, settlement, earth retention, foundations, general civil designexperience, construction experience, rock engineering, or othergeotechnical analyses;

A willingness toperform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable;

Experience andproficiency with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is preferred;

Competence in theMicrosoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) isnecessary;

Ability to obtain EITwithin 2 years required;
