Summary of Position:

Under broad supervision, this position is responsible for planning and scheduling work of an assigned group of campus recreation housekeepers. Duties include scheduling of available hours, assisting with training, conducting building inspections, interacting with campus stakeholders, supervising and evaluating staff, reviewing products and equipment, and performing cleaning and related tasks as directed.

Acceptable minimum level of education:

HS or equivalent

Acceptable minimum years of experience: 3 years

Other minimum qualifications:

Strong interpersonal communication skills

Strong supervisory skills with the ability to supervise large groups of employees

Ability to operate power cleaning equipment.

Thorough knowledge of cleaning materials, processes, and equipment

Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations

Sufficient strength and dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work

Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment

Ability to read and communicate in English

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a college or University environment.

Some fluency in Spanish language.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Supervise, plan, and schedule worked to be performed by assigned housekeeping staff. Conduct inspections and evaluate quality of work to assure appropriate level of cleanliness. Interact with building liaisons, residents, and other occupants to address housekeeping concerns. Requisition, maintain, inventory, and issue supplies and equipment for buildings in assigned area. Ensure the safety of all assets and that they are in proper condition. Coordinate safety training for all employees. Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and OSHA regulations as required. Observe and report safety concerns, defects, deterioration and wear and tear of facilities and equipment to supervisor or other management staff. Evaluate and provide regular performance feedback to staff. Conduct annual assessments for all direct reports and deliver written documentation to individual employees. Monitor compliance with all department and University rules, practices, and procedures. Respond to after-hour emergency calls on a rotational basis. Responsible for key control/issuance to staff in assigned buildings. Perform cleaning tasks and routine housekeeping duties as needed. Work with concerned groups to facilitate and monitor recycling programs. Perform other related duties as assigned.
