SUMMARY

Performs either:

-Mechanical assembly of transformer core stacks, chopping of magnetic steel and fabrication of wire leads.

OR

-Assembles electro-mechanical units, such as transformers and power supplies, involving many different types of components including: magnetic components (transformers, inductors, chokes), circuit breakers, switches, fuses, electronic controllers, printed circuit boards, copper buswork, sheet metal enclosures and cabinets, fans and others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Utilize tools to assemble magnetic steel laminations into core assemblies.

• Utilize manual, electric and hydraulic crimping tools to fasten wire terminals onto lead wires.

• Able to learn and operate mechanical cutting machines for cutting magnetic steel for core assemblies.

• Reads work process instructions, prints, schematics and rough sketches and notes, follows production drawings and sample assemblies or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

• Utilize company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to access information to support the function of the job, including time and attendance accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.

• Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.

• Must know circuit symbols and various assembly techniques, such as crimping, soldering, stripping.

• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in non-standardized, unique, one-of-a-kind situations.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear.

• The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and less occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

• Good hand dexterity is frequently required to reach and assemble components.
