Wakefield-Vette is a leading supplier of advanced thermal management products used to remove excess heat generated by electronic components. The company offers custom designed heat sinks, liquid cold plates and enclosure assemblies as well as a broad line of standard products and accessories. The companyâs thermal management products are used by various OEM customers in the aerospace and defense, industrial, consumer electronics, medical, and telecommunications industries.
In addition to thermal management products the company also offers a wide range of extruded aluminum and fabricated metal products that are used in numerous end markets including building materials, HVAC systems and recreational vehicles.
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the manufacturing engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
â¢ Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
â¢ Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
â¢ Project manages small or large scale manufacturing related projects related to process improvements or flow changes
â¢ Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
â¢ Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
â¢ Liaise with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
â¢ Conducts Value Stream Analysis, manufacturing process flow redesigns, and time and motion studies.
â¢ Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and capture potential efficiencies.
â¢ Leads plant management and employees in conceptualizing, planning and implementing, and sustaining continuous improvements by utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools
â¢ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/ Manufacturing engineering required.
â¢ 5-7 + yearâs work experience in a lean manufacturing facility in an engineering type role.
â¢ Experience with tool & fixture design.
â¢ Thermal design manufacturing experience desirable.
â¢ Able to effectively carry out a vision, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Manufacturing Production Systems group with Production, Materials, Quality, and Engineering functions.
â¢ Lean, Green or Black Belt training and application desirable.
â¢ Experience working in a machining company, tooling and fixture design.
â¢ Good working knowledge of cutting tool applications & CNC machine setups
â¢ Experienced project leader, with solid and proven project management skills.
â¢ Experience with MasterCam, Solidworks, and AutoCAD is preferred
â¢ Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project.
â¢ Strong analytical, organization and communication skills.
