Located on the shores of Lake Monomonac, NH, Camp Starfish is a unique environment, the only camp in New England to offer a one-to-one camper-to-counselor relationship. Each year more than 200 young boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17 who struggle with debilitating psychological and learning disabilities have found the care and compassion needed to help them move forward in life. Specialists live in a cabin with campers and help them have the best possible camp experience, which includes the basic functions of providing behavior management support, working with goals, and guiding campers through their stay.
Program Instructors are responsible for planning lessons and teaching 3-5 activity periods per day within a specific program area.
Waterfront Staff teach 1:1 swim lessons (from first-time swimmers to junior lifeguard levels) and boating instruction, as well as supervise water safety at three waterfronts.
Compensation includes a salary based on experience, education, certifications, and skills, plus room, board, laundry, any necessary certifications for your position, and free transportation to and from camp at the beginning and end of the summer from Boston if needed. Preference is given to those who are at least 19 years old with one year of college/work/life experience outside of high school. If you have the desire and ability to work with children with emotional, learning and behavioral problems, and have a good character, integrity, adaptability, flexibility, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control, fill out the online application.
