We have a 2 family house built in 1912 in West Cambridge, Massachusetts, a desirable, quiet, residential part of Cambridge, where we have lived for over 46 years.
Now we are looking to immediately hire a skilled, quality conscious person to rebuild our 2nd floor porch/deck. (It never had a roof. )
The porch needs support, framing, rubber, and the very heavy, one piece, wrought iron railing to be reinstalled. My husband will put down the new fir floor boards. With my husband (and me and our 1-3 daughters) helping, we will need someone for about a few weeks. We also have a lot of tools.
For the right person this could be an income producing work experience and a city vacation all in one. This person could stay for free in our second floor apartment with access to the apartment's eat-in kitchen, bathroom, living room with TV, and "dining room" (not for eating) with a large table.
We are around the corner from Huron Village with 2 blocks of small shops, small restaurants, and a neighborhood food market. Then 3 to 6 blocks away are more small food shops and other shops, a famous award winning pizza place, cafés, a large bakery, etc. Then a 7 minute walk in the other direction goes to Fresh Pond Mall with a very large Whole Foods Market, other larger stores, and a movie theater. Across the street is a Trader Joe's and a CVS which is a 24 hour drug store, etc. A longer walk or a 6 minute bus ride goes to Star Market, which is a large supermarket.
For recreation we are a little over a mile (a 15-20 minute walk or 6 minute bus ride) to Harvard Square, Harvard University, and many stores, and historical sights. There are also buses to other destinations such as Central Square and MIT. The subway train goes to Boston. Our house is about 3 blocks to the Charles River, several blocks to Fresh Pond Reservoir, and a few blocks to Danehy Park.
