-Casco Bay Steel Structures, Inc is looking for 1st and 2nd Shift Quality Inspectors to join their Quality Control team in South Portland
-CWI is required
-Industrial coatings experience is a plus
-self motivator
-willing to be hands on with the employees on the shop floor
-blueprint reading experience
The shop quality inspector is responsible for checking and to aid in workmanship of layout checks, fit-up checks, weld quality, coatings, etc. As part of the Quality Team, this role will make sure that the work performed meets the contract requirements as well as perform final CWI required inspections and fabrication in process checking and monitoring. They will assist in troubleshooting small production problems, support and administer welder certification testing, and aid in coatings inspection as required.
Steel Bridge Industry experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Qualifications: Requirements for the Quality Control Inspector include having 5 years or more of fabrication experience or training in this field. The shop inspector must have an AWS CWI with the hands-on knowledge of how to apply and understand the standards and specifications for the projects going into the shop. The inspector should have good communication skills and the ability to keep job records.
Duties: Responsibilities and daily duties of the shop quality inspector include but are not limited to the following:
Fit up checks and dimensions
Dimension (layout) checks
Weld Inspection
Record Keeping
In-process inspection of all fabrication
Surface preparation for coatings
Coatings inspection and record keeping
Additional responsibilities as needed
