McMillan Transport is a family owned and operated transportation company that has been in business since 1979. We are currently looking to hire a full-time dispatcher to join our team.
This position is responsible for routing loads and dispatching drivers and equipment to the appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Search out, negotiate, and obtain inbound and outbound loads as needed from freight brokers and customers
Dispatch drivers on outbound and inbound loads
Maintain broker and other customer relationships
Perform Safety Coordinator duties, including serving as Chairperson of Safety Committee and representing McMillan at quarterly workers compensation safety meetings
Process vehicle accidents and workplace injury (incidences) in compliance with McMillan policies and Workmans Compensation procedures
Process driver paperwork for payroll and billing
Must be knowledgeable of DOT regulations and act as lead in this area for the company
OS&D resolution
Test drive and train new driver applicants
This position serves as the secondary Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the companys random drug & alcohol testing program, requiring Reasonable Suspicion training
Other duties as may be assigned
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Able to make good decisions under pressure (Required)
High level of communication skills (Required)
High level of logistics skills (Required)
High school diploma (Required), or college degree (Preferred), or a minimum of 3 years of experience in trucking (Preferred)
The ability to read and write in English, and the ability to add and subtract whole numbers (Required)
The ability to use a telephone, tablet (Required)
2-Years computer experience in an office setting (Required)
Experience in the following software
Microsoft Excel or equivalent (required)
Microsoft Outlook or equivalent (preferred)
CDL-A experience (preferred)
Must be at least 21 years of age (Required)
