Our client - a major, multi-office state government agency - is looking to fill a contract position with experienced Technical Support Specialist. This is a long-term contract (initially 1 year, with the likelihood to extend for another year and potentially beyond).
The ideal candidate will possess two years of substantial support experience. Knowledge of Windows 10 is preferred and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows Server is required.
Responsibilities include install, troubleshoot, research and correct desktop application and hardware issues.
Provide Tier I - II desktop and application support, including new user setup, support for Line of Business applications, and create, maintain and update technical documentation following standard formats.
Conduct analysis and troubleshooting via telephone, email and remote control for clients in a timely fashion.
Work within a ticketing system to track and escalate client issues.
Key skills that would be needed:
Ability to help support a variety of applications. Client is utilizing Microsoft's System Center - you should be able to read log files, Event Viewer and command line utilities.
Some understanding of SQL - enough to understand requirements and/or configuration of a connection string (hostname and port used).
A basic understanding of TCP/IP; i.e. you should be able to get a clients IP address. You will not have to work with network routers/switches/etc.
You should also understand how to connect to network shares and effects of permission settings and be able to troubleshoot. You will NOT be responsible for adjustments to permissions; you will only need to know how to add users to appropriate groups in A/D.
Other skills that would be ideal:
Must be able to move, install and configure PCs, printers and other equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
The consultant will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey to perform the essential duties of the position.
Must possess the ability to interact with all levels of users in a demanding, fast-paced environment and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
