Restaurant experienced or good home cooks are welcome, you pick the days you want to work. You can have a regular schedule or change your schedule every week.
Hours are approx. 10:30am-6:30pm (split days, 10:30am-2:30pm or 2:30pm-6:30pm are also possible). Basically you show up and leave whenever you want, as long as lunch and dinner are out on time (12:15pm, 6pm). If you work the full 8 hour shift, you can take the middle of the day off, paid. There is no time clock.
Be your own chef! We let you cook whatever you want to, its your show.
We run an alternative healthy menu, orthomolecular, limited additives, hormone free, casein free, sugar free, low gluten, ancient grain. Within our broad guidelines, you can be as creative as you want: use everything we stock and create your own menu every day. No boss breathing down your neck; we are very informal. This might be the coolest job you've ever worked.
Duties: prepare lunch (served 12:15pm) and dinner (served 6pm) and 2 snacks, for about 14 people. You should be here at mealtimes (12:15pm , 6pm), other than that you can show up whenever, leave whenever, and come back whenever. You run your own schedule and menu.
Like any job, we do expect reliability and there are some core hours here where you have to do real work; we're looking for people who really like to cook.
Ideal if you live locally so you can take advantage of the split day (go home in the middle of the day, run errands, relax, etc). , though this is not necessary. Mothers with children in school are welcome. Experienced restaurant cooks who want some extra hours working a really cool laid back job are also welcome. We can pretty much accommodate any schedule.
A friendly and nurturant attitude is especially helpful. We are a small non-profit residential facility.
You should have a mature responsible take charge attitude and hopefully a car (we are in a rural location), though transportation can be arranged if you live locally. The right person can start paid training right away. We are located in East Millstone, Franklin Twp, N.J. 08875, about 15-20 minutes by car from New Brunswick, Princeton, North or South Brunswick; 10 minutes from Manville, Hillsborough or Somerset.
Holidays pay time and a half, or you can take them off if you wish.
