ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager of Design Standards Unit, Quality Assurance Division, and under the direct supervision of the Supervising Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing fire protection, fire alarm and plumbing design documents for tenant and capital projects at Port Authority facilities for compliance with applicable construction codes and Tenant Construction Review Manual.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: analyzing and reviewing drawings, specifications, reports, studies, etc., for compliance with codes and standards; assist Manager and Supervising Engineer as a technical specialist; supervise engineers in specific technical discipline; coordinate and compile comments from other technical disciplines and prepare memoranda for transmittal to the facility; meet and discuss non-compliance items with tenant’s design consultants for resolution.QualificationsCandidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Fire Protection engineering from an accredited college or university.

Ten (10) or more years of experience in fire protection/fire alarm/plumbing design and code analysis.

Familiarity with the building codes in NYC, State of New York, and NJ, and familiarity with other applicable construction codes and NFPA Standards.

Valid Driver’s License

DesiredIdeal candidates will present the following profile:

Demonstrate experience in working independently, and skills in problem solving and decision making. Ability to guide technical staff performing engineering review for code compliance

Professional engineer’s license in State of New York and/or New Jersey is preferable.

Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels

Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment

Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
