The Mainframe Software Engineer II is a key developer role in GMOT securities. This role supports the Asset Services suite of applications with primary focus on Corporate Actions. We are in search of a senior developer with previous experience in FinTech.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analysis, programming and implementation of changes in diverse mainframe based applications.
  • Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested applications.
  • Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank.
  • Contributes to, and takes leadership of, story refinement/defining requirements.
  • Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
  • Leads resolution processes for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
  • Develop technical solutions to complex business requirements
  • Ability to lead individual or small team initiatives


Required Job Skills:
  • 5+ years mainframe experience, ideally in FinTech
  • Experience with z/OS, Cobol, JCL, DB2, IMS, VSAM, Stored Procedures, Batch, CICS, Endevor, File Manager, IBM Debug
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly communicate with senior leaders
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and innovate on your own, with strong knowledge of Agile Development practices
  • Ability to provide off hours support as necessary
  • Ability to work independently while engaging others as needed
  • Experience working on projects with distributed and mainframe components


Desired Job Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of distributed technologies such as .Net, Java, Python
  • Exposure to idZ
  • Experience with mainframe performance improvement projects
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Previous AIT management experience
  • Experience managing employees and consultants
  • Knowledge of CICS analysis and performance tools like TMON is desirable.
  • Knowledge of DB2 performance tools.
  • Visio

LOB General:

Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes. Individual contributor.
