Job Description:
Senior developer in trade life cycle systems in Fixed Income, Commodities Currencies(FICC). Responsible for designing, developing and delivering high quality software solutions to accomplish business goals in the interest rate derivatives LOB.
As a senior developer within the Trade Lifecycle (TLC) development team will be required to collaborate with technology, trading and operations teams who actively use the VMaster Suite of applications to explore issues and gather requirements. The role requires experience in developing multi-tier/threaded applications using Python, Java, C, Sybase/SQL , MQ/AMPS, Apache Web Server and Linux.The developer will utilize Agile development techniques and tools to ensure quality design and coding are built into the development process from the start. Requirements, specification and code will need to be documented, along with proposals for new solutions. Given the fast-paced nature of a trading environment, the candidate will need to be very organized and able to cope with changing demands.
Required Skills:
Resource must have at least 5 years' experience developing high-performance, enterprise-capable applications in C/Python/Java
Experience in database schema design, stored procedure and trigger development on Sybase
Possess strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
Good understanding of fixed income products especially interest rate derivatives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working in a Linux environment
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of Agile development methodology
Experience with BitBucket, Jenkins, Ansible and GIT
Experience developing programs using Apache web servers
Experience working with MQ/AMPS messaging software
Knowledge / experience developing Quartz/Java/Perl programs
Experience in N-tier, multi-threaded trading system development
LOB General:
Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
