This entry-level position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced team that provides solutions on environmental projects. The work entails a variety of office-related and outdoor “hands-on” activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, and at times requires problem solving and proactive communication.Responsibilities of the role will include:

Engage in a team environment, working closely with project managers and co-workers to complete work programs

Safely perform work, both in the field and office, and operating vehicles on behalf of the company

Perform subsurface site investigations including drilling, classifying soils, coring and logging rock, installing wells, and collecting environmental samples (e.g., soil, groundwater, soil gas) in compliance with State and Federal requirements

Handle equipment, including operation, calibration, and maintenance, in accordance with regulatory requirements; and ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance

Coordinate and provide oversight of subcontractors (e.g., laboratories, drillers)

Operate, maintain, and monitor remedial systems

Document field activities (e.g., field forms, field notebooks, daily reports) and verbally communicate site conditions, observations, and activities

Travel for out-of-town project opportunities, typically not exceeding five days at a time

Work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions

Interpret subsurface conditions and prepare investigation records (e.g., borehole logs)

Contribute to environmental monitoring and technical reports, including compiling field and analytical data

The successful candidate will possess:

Bachelor’s degree in geology or other geoscience-related field required; higher degree preferred

While not required, experience in the site remediation field, including internships, is preferred

Strong verbal communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills combined with a positive attitude and an ability to work both independently and within groups

Competence with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); preferential consideration for candidates with other database, statistical, and modeling software proficiency

Attention to detail; accuracy is essential

Willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice

Understanding of the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs

40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable) are required for site work, preferential consideration for candidates with this training
