For July 27–August 14, 2020 (with the potential for an additional week), we’re seeking enthusiastic teachers with elementary and middle school experience in English, math, and writing, who can teach remotely for our virtual academic summer camp. Teachers should be comfortable with leading virtual classes, and additional training will be provided along with full curriculum materials. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers to gain experience in virtual teaching.
Our 45-minute camp classes are held via Zoom Mondays–Thursdays, 9am–12pm, with additional activities on Friday mornings. Our joint English/Writing class focuses on grammar and essay writing skills, with weekly writing assignments that take students through the writing process of brainstorming, drafting, revising, and proofreading. Our math classes focus on Common Core–aligned topics and feature a slideshow lesson with interactive exercises.
Classes range in size from 6–12 students in grades 3–6 (classes are organized by grade). Teachers are expected to familiarize themselves with our curriculum materials, prep for each week’s lessons ahead of time, and provide written feedback on essay assignments.
