We make all our ice cream and baked goods by hand in our kitchen in Jersey City, using only the highest quality local, organic and all natural ingredients to create our unique, chef-driven ice cream flavors.
Milk Sugar Love is looking for a smart, hard-working, self-motivated, cheerful, go-with-the-flow cooks to join our growing team. Cooks assist in all aspects of running a clean, efficient kitchen including: production, ensuring safe food handling, and producing the very best quality ice cream and pastries. Prior commercial kitchen experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidates.
Must have the ability to juggle an ever-changing workload and produce product in bulk that adheres to our strict quality standards. Must enjoy working as part of a team and be able to face challenges with a professional, positive attitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
*Must be dependable and hard-working
*Be meticulously clean and aware of all food safety standards
*Follow recipes accurately, memorizing volumetric measurements
*Communicate effectively and directly with supervisors and colleagues
*Comply with all Health Department Food Safety Standards
*Work with management to establish and meet finished product par levels
*Maintain organization and inventory of the kitchen, including dry storage, freezers and fridges
*Conduct daily quality checks of products.
Cooks should embody our core values of being respectful, doing the right thing, having a relentless drive to improve, communicating in a clear and honest way, obsessing about quality, and exceeding expectations. Previous commercial kitchen experience and current food handler's permit a plus. Must be able to stand for 8 hour shifts and lift at least 50 lbs.
