Trainees receive the following:

Child care allowance is available to members who are custodial or joint-custodial parents

Projects settings are diverse and can include active disaster areas, recovery sites and FEMA regional offices.
Sample projects with training provided:
Training the public on disaster preparedness
Planning evacuation routes and recovery plans for potential disasters
Compiling reports, managing and analyzing data
Working with nonprofits and government agencies to coordinate services for disaster survivors
Preparing disaster kits, tracking inventory and loading supplies in FEMA warehouses
Writing federal grants for damaged public facilities
Filling and placing sandbags in local communities to mitigate the impact of natural disasters like flooding
Construction/Rehabilitation of damaged buildings and homes
