This role handles Dosing, sampling,Support Technical staff, Report Writing and project managment. This position is not all benchwork but a combination of hands on research, data, reportingand some benchwork involved in the management of the inhalation study.

Specific Responsibilities:

Learns to develop, validate and implement systems, processes and procedures necessary to conduct inhalation toxicology studies in rodents, dogs and primates. Contributes to the production of expert reports relating to the specialist aspects of dosing, sampling and analysis for each of the studies assigned. The Scientist will work closely with the Inhalation Department Management, Study Directors and other Scientists to ensure that study requirements and schedules are met and to obtain a smooth transition between preliminary work and the use of the equipment for dosing by inhalation technical staff and animal technicians.

  • Records data (manually and via computerized systems) neatly and accurately in a timely manner
  • Consistently follow all department best practices and processes
  • Timely and accurate response to all pertinent QA audit findings
  • Under supervision monitors critical phases of studies and reports problems or deviations to Study Directors and Management
  • A full understanding of study requirements, GLPs, and other regulatory guidelines and how their role has implications in the overall project
  • Understand, know, and follow department and company specific SOPs, study plan requirements, GLP, A(SPA)A, USDA, data integrity Health & Safety and other regulatory guidelines
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of standard inhalation generation systems, sampling systems and exposure system methodology / procedures
  • Under minimal supervision, provide input on study plans, reports, and amendments for standard inhalation studies
  • Provides technical study support on large and small animal inhalation studies
  • Assembles and/or monitors exposure systems, aerosol generators and sampling systems under supervision
  • Demonstrates consistent, repeatable and competent technique in the generation of test items by standard methods in relevant species
  • Resolves simple respiratory safety assessment /inhalation study problems
  • Competent in standard data processing procedures
  • Proactively checks study schedules as assigned
  • Provides excellent customer care to internal clients, including timely production of compiled study progress updates and other client deliverables.
  • Follows written and verbal directions accurately
  • Demonstrates ability to navigate all office-based software (outlook, CMS, word, PowerPoint, excel, etc.)
  • Maintains awareness and responsibility of allocated studies relevant to role
  • Manages own workload with supervision
  • Actively contributes to the morale and cohesiveness of the team
  • Awareness of how their role and behavior impacts (positively or negatively) the client experience
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for consistent and high-quality data
  • Basic understanding of how pre-clinical safety studies fit into drug development process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a science or animal related field is preferred; or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Understanding of technical procedures in a research setting
  • Proficient with computers and software programs as appropriate to the role and dept

Experience:

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in related professional roles
  • Strong focus on data quality and animal welfare
  • Demonstrate ability to use good judgement, assess risks and change management
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment as well as maintain and exhibit personal composure and confidence at all times
  • Previous experience with inhalation exposure systems, sampling techniques, inhalation toxicology is beneficial
  • Extensive job-related training provided
