Together, we succeed when small businesses succeed.Our team collects and analyzes survey and behavioral datasets to understand new challenges, solve problems, and shape decisions. Our research covers a wide range of topics: understanding customer profiles, assessing their needs, pain points and overall experience, providing recommendations for product strategy, marketing and sales teams, evaluating the economic and social impact, improving survey science and causal measurement methods, and brand sentiment. To tackle these topics, our interdisciplinary team have expertise in statistical inference, survey methodology, causal inference and econometrics, regression modeling, exploratory data analysis, and psychometrics, among other areas. If you are a quantitative social scientist with experience answering complex research questions, consider joining us in our mission. In this role, you’ll own all aspects of the research process, including navigating trade-offs when designing projects, proposing appropriate methodologies, analyzing data, and communicating results to diverse audiences to drive impactful decisions. You will have the opportunity to learn new methodologies and how to glean insights from big data.Required Skills: Data Scientist Responsibilities:Develop a research agenda and drive research projects from end-to-end
Combine massive amounts of structured data with scaled off-platform data via surveys to understand how our customers interact with our product and service offerings
Proactively identify opportunities to improve the experience of businesses on the Meta family of apps using research methods
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company to define relevant research questions and identify areas for impact
Design and deploy appropriate research methodologies to answer those questions
Develop innovative approaches to solve challenging problems
Provide teams with usable measurement strategies and methodologies to improve decisions
Effectively communicate insights and recommendations clearly to relevant audiences
Frequently and effectively switch between execution and strategy
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:Experience designing original research to address complex social questions
Experience initiating and driving research projects to completion with minimal guidance
Experience communicating analyses and results to both technical and non-technical audiences
Master’s in the social sciences (e.g., Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction), or in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Informatics, Econometrics)
Skilled in at least three of the following: statistical inference, survey methodology, regression modeling, exploratory data analysis, and experimental design
Experience with statistical analysis, programming and querying languages (e.g., R/Stata, Python, SQL/Hive)
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. in the social sciences (e.g., Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Communication, Human-Computer Interaction), or in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Informatics, Econometrics) with experience answering social questions
Experience with large data sets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop)
Experience with primary data collection
Experience with survey sampling and weighting
Experience with observational causal inference (e.g., regression adjustment, matching, propensity score stratification), or quasi-experimental methods (e.g., instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, interrupted time series)
Familiarity with Bayesian statistical models
Familiarity with qualitative research (e.g., focus groups, interviews, cognitive walkthroughs)
