Job Description

Ripen seeks a Business Development Representative that has proven experience selling ecommerce website strategy, design, development and content production to mid-size to large brands. In this position, you will be responsible for lead generation, cultivating sales opportunities and closing new business engagements. The Business Development Manager will be a “hunter” who will use their established network as well as targeted lists to source and qualify new business opportunities for our digital agency.

You will thrive at cultivating relationships from initial inquiry through all phases of sales development concluding with the project kick-off. You will partner very closely with the client account manager and project manager on to ensure scope and deliverables are realistic and achievable. You will also consult with all internal core subject matter experts (SMEs) on project scoping, pricing, proposals and negotiation of legal contracts.

The ideal candidate should have a deep rolodex of industry contacts focused on retail brands or manufacturers and a passion for cultivating new business relationships in a fun, fast paced environment. You should be the type of person that can leverage proven and new ideas on how to build customer relationships that solve problems in a proactive and innovative way.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, qualify and develop sales opportunities to target emerging and established brands
  • Establish and cultivating positive relationships with key decision makers
  • Identify prospect’s objectives to craft solutions that meet or exceed client goals
  • Prepare client scope documents, pricing and solution proposals, legal contracts and coordinate billing
  • Ensure clear communication and hand-off to strategy, development and studio implementation teams
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal teams in order to surface issues before critical stages
  • Maintain sales information, status and opportunity information in CRM database

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years sales experience in a digital agency and experience in closing business in a long sales cycle
  • Proven experience with creating markets, moving prospects along the sales cycle, and closingsales over $100k at midsize and large brand organizations
  • Deep knowledge of web commerce strategy, design, development and photo/video production
  • Preferred knowledge of or experience with Magento, Shopify and/or BigCommerce
  • Ability to cultivate long-term relationships that will yield new business engagements
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of budgeting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Fluent knowledge of Keynote and MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Salesforce and Jira are desired
  • Bachelor’s or higher in business management, sales or business administration
