Summary Responsible for all aspects of facility maintenance. Insures that all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; telecommunications, food service and maintenance / cleaning equipment is operating properly and efficiently, and maintained in good condition. Oversees general facility maintenance; and proper delivery of event-related utility services. Performs the following duties personally or through a subordinate:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Ensures proper and efficient operation of the facilities Building Management System (BMS)
Schedules, coordinates and supervises / monitors the Engineering department of the facility.
Develops an emergency action plan for system malfunctions or breakdowns; develops corrective actions and solutions.
Provides oversight on event work orders to ensure staff available for all load in/tear down of electrical equipment to meet event requirements.
Provides technical support, oversees and/or assists with repairs and maintenance of all facility systems and equipment.
Ensures all equipment is maintained according to factory specifications and appropriate PM information is entered into SMG Altum Maintenance Program.
Ensures proper utilization of the Work Order and SMG Maintenance Manager systems.
Acts as contact for suppliers, contractors and vendors.
Ensures adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
Manage Civic Plaza landscaping and fountain systems as seasonal mandates dictate.
Manage and maintain inventory controls on all equipment, tools, and other SMG assets.
Manage departmental purchase control process to ensure timely and accurate documentation of all vendor invoicing per SMG policies.
Provide training and tools necessary to ensure team is fully qualified in respective duties.
Analyzes needs and plan preventive maintenance programs and upgrades for systems.
Monitors repair activity to minimum downtime and disruption to facility event activity.
Works extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
3+ years hands-on experience with HVAC equipment
3+ years knowledge and understanding of 480v electrical systems
Minimum of three years experience in the operation of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.
5-7 years in proven supervisory or facility management leadership role.

Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.

Ability to work irregular / extended hours, including night and weekend duties is required
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer skills to operate BMS / other automated systems. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
HVAC certification/licensing Preferred
Journeyman Electrician/Plumbing license preferred
