Job Description:
This position will focus on the proper engineering and design of utility commercial and residential solar projects throughout the state of New Mexico. This role will enforce strict adherence to industry best practices, National Electrical Code standards and quality control.
This position is a best fit for a detail orientated and fast passed person that can jump right in, no training necessary. The right candidate will need to work independently with little to no oversight. To be successful you will need a robust knowledge of how solar electrical systems work, sound technical and engineering skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design residential, commercial and small utility scale PV systems
Review plan-sets and technical design specifications to ensure solar projects satisfy technical requirements
Visit project sites and conduct thorough physical inspections to ensure deployed solar assets are of the highest quality
Perform remoteĀ quality assurance inspections using photographs and plan sets
Provide guidance to sales and operations teams on evaluating new opportunities
Model projects with PVSyst or Helioscope
Review PV system designs provided by partnes for code compliance and best practices
Create comprehensive design sets from site plans, elevations, electrical on-lines and three line drawings.
Provide technical guidance to installation superintendent on equipment and technical issues
Perform research on new solar industry developments; that may apply to projects in the future and to save money
Continuous process improvement and optimization
Requirements:
Proficient in PVSyst/ Helioscope or Arura
Proficient in Autocad
Expert knowledge of the National Electric Code and other industry guidelines
Organized and detail oriented
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
Advanced business software skills (Microsoft: Excel, Project, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or other related field required
3 years of experience in PV system design
NABCEP certification preferred
