We are currently seeking a full-time, Database Administrator to perform all activities and duties related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of multiple database systems. The database administrator will handle installations, upgrades, backups, and configurations of a variety of databases, specifically Deltek (Costpoint).The position requires working closely with administrative and scientific managers and end users to identify needs, provide solutions, and ensure the most efficient use and understanding of the Institute's database systems. Tasks may include a limited amount of design and programming, testing tools and techniques, researching technical issues, preparing documentation, project planning, and training. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4-5 years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Experience analyzing, programming and implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software products strongly preferred. Experience with Deltek (Costpoint) is also strongly preferred. Must have the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies to develop specifications for new hardware and software purchases. Ability to communicate effectively through technical writing, develop and maintain system documentation. Perform effectively under critical time constraints, and maintains effective working relations between ITS department, compliance, and scientists. Possess the ability to provide technical guidance and instruction to computer users. Experience in managing multiple software and hardware projects while developing associated documentation. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism and excellent problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team as well as the ability to maintain confidential information.Relocation may be available for this position.
